Trump Appoints Kari Lake to Lead Voice of America, Promoting “American Values”

President-elect Donald Trump has tapped Kari Lake, a staunch ally and former news anchor, to lead Voice of America (VOA), the U.S. government-funded international broadcaster.

Lake, known for her vocal support of Trump and her controversial bids for Arizona’s Senate and gubernatorial positions, will take charge of the network, which is tasked with spreading American values worldwide.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump praised Lake’s appointment, emphasizing that she would ensure the “FAIR and ACCURATE” promotion of American values across the globe.

This move follows Trump’s long-standing criticism of what he terms the “mainstream media,” accusing them of spreading “lies” that misrepresent the truth. Lake, who has gained a significant following for her pro-Trump stance, has repeatedly attacked the media for what she perceives as biased coverage.

Lake’s appointment is seen as a clear move to reshape the VOA’s narrative, reflecting a more conservative, pro-Trump worldview. Her leadership of the broadcaster is expected to bolster Trump’s influence in shaping how the U.S. is portrayed on the global stage, focusing on what she and Trump consider the true representation of American ideals.

Critics, however, have raised concerns about the potential politicization of the VOA, questioning whether it will remain an impartial source of news or become a mouthpiece for Trump’s political agenda.
