Timor-Leste Reiterates “Firm” Support for Sahrawi People

The Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao, reaffirmed his country’s position in support of the Sahrawi people and their right to self-determination and full sovereignty over their territory.

In a message addressed to Sahrawi President Brahim Ghali, the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste reiterated his country’s “firm” support for the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and full sovereignty over their territory, reported the Sahrawi news agency SPS.

“We understand, from our own experience, the importance of such aspirations and the moral duty of nations to support them (the Sahrawi people),” he added.

The Timorese Prime Minister wrote in his letter to the Sahrawi leader, “The courage and resilience of the Sahrawi people continue to be a source of inspiration for all those who believe in freedom and human dignity.”
