TikTok Fined $10 Million in Venezuela for Dangerous Challenges

TikTok has been fined $10 million for promoting dangerous challenges on its platform, according to a report by VTV broadcaster. The company has been given 10 days to pay the fine.
The fine follows a lawsuit filed in late November after the deaths of three adolescents in Venezuela, with the country’s supreme court accepting the case. The court also ordered TikTok to establish a representative office in Venezuela, oversee its app operations more closely, and enhance user safety measures. Additionally, a commission involving affected families was mandated to assess damages related to the platform’s insufficient content control.
The Venezuelan government is reportedly planning to use the fine to create a “TikTok Victims” fund to support those affected.
