Algeria : Three Drug Traffickers Eliminated, 112 kg of Cocaine Seized in one Week

Three armed drug traffickers of foreign nationality were eliminated in In Guezzam and 33 others were intercepted, while 112 kg of cocaine along with over 900,000 hallucinogenic tablets were seized during operations conducted nationwide by detachments of the People’s National Army (PNA) from 18 to 24 March, according to the army’s weekly operational report released on Wednesday.
“As part of the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and all forms of organized crime, units and detachments of the People’s National Army, during the period from 18 to 24 March 2026, carried out numerous operations that resulted in qualitative outcomes reflecting the high level of professionalism, vigilance and permanent readiness of our armed forces across the national territory,” said the same source.
As part of the fight against organized crime and ” in continuity of efforts to counter the scourge of drug trafficking in our country,” detachments of the PNA killed 3 armed drug traffickers of foreign nationality, following a clash with a criminal group in In Guezzam in the 6th Military Region, and seized 2 Kalashnikov-type submachine guns as well as various items, while other combined detachments of the PNA intercepted, in coordination with the various security services, during operations carried out across the Military Regions, 33 drug traffickers and foiled attempts to introduce 12 quintals and 98 kilograms of processed cannabis from the borders with Morocco, and seized 112 kilograms of cocaine and 928,895 psychotropic tablets,” added the same source.
“In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezzam and Djanet, PNA detachments arrested 82 individuals and seized 24 vehicles, 65 generators, 31 jackhammers, as well as quantities of raw gold mixture and stones and equipment used in illegal gold panning operations,” according to the same source.
“Twelve (12) other individuals were apprehended, a Kalashnikov-type submachine gun, a Seminov-type semi-automatic rifle, 9,890 liters of fuel, as well as 31 tons of foodstuffs intended for smuggling and speculation were seized during separate operations,” added the source.
“The Coast Guards thwarted attempts at irregular migration and rescued 83 individuals aboard makeshift boats, while 227 irregular immigrants of various nationalities were arrested across the national territory,” concluded the report.
