Thousands of Farmers Protest in London Against Inheritance Tax Changes

LONDON – Thousands of farmers are set to protest in Westminster this afternoon against the government’s inheritance tax policies, which they argue threaten family farms. The demonstration comes amid growing pressure on Labour, with Nigel Farage warning that MPs in rural constituencies are “getting scared” by Chancellor Rachel Reeves’s refusal to reverse the tax changes. Speaking at a farm in north London, Farage emphasized that with Labour holding many rural seats, sustained and peaceful protests could force the government to reconsider.
The inheritance tax dispute has sparked significant unrest among farmers, particularly in England, Scotland, and Wales, where at least 81 Labour-held constituencies have substantial rural populations. Farage urged local communities to rally behind affected families, stressing that Labour’s leadership is already facing mounting political challenges. The protest marks the latest escalation in farmers’ opposition to tax policies they believe will undermine agricultural businesses and rural livelihoods.
