Tebboune: The Algerian Army Is True Higher School of Patriotism

ALGIERS, October 9, 2025 —The Algerian President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said Thursday that the People’s National Army (PNA) today represents a true higher school of patriotism, defending the integrity of the national territory and remaining faithful to the message of November 1, 1954.
During his visit to the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, President Tebboune met with officers and personnel of the PNA and delivered a speech broadcast by videoconference to all Force Commands, the six military regions, major units, and higher military schools across the country.
On this occasion, the President stressed that “the People’s National Army, which has adapted to hybrid and cyber warfare as well as artificial intelligence, today stands as a higher school of patriotism, a fierce defender of our freedom and the integrity of the national territory, and a guardian of the message of November 1, 1954.”
He added that “the favorable investment climate now prevailing in Algeria, and the growing influx of both national and foreign investors, stems from the security and stability ensured by the People’s National Army and the security forces.”
The President also praised the role of the PNA and various security institutions in combating drug trafficking, which he said seeks to “undermine the foundations of society, particularly its youth, by attempting to flood Algeria with drugs to destroy the country’s future and its main pillar — its young generation.”
At the end of his address, President Tebboune extended his best wishes to the national football team ahead of their match against Somalia as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
