Tebboune: ‘New Desalination Plants, Source of Pride for Victorious Algeria’

On Wednesday, in El Tarf province, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, declared that the newly completed desalination plants in the provinces of Oran, Tipasa, El Tarf, Boumerdes, and Béjaïa represent a significant source of pride for victorious Algeria.
In a speech delivered following a presentation on the progress of the “Koudiet Eddraouche” desalination plant’s construction—a project he inaugurated—the President expressed his gratitude to all workers, managers, and officials who contributed to the success of these megaprojects. He specifically acknowledged the Minister of State and Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energies, the Minister of Water Resources, the CEO of Sonatrach, and everyone involved, whether directly or indirectly, in bringing these monumental projects to fruition.
The President emphasized that these megaprojects are “ultimately an honor for victorious Algeria.” He expressed optimism for the completion of this initiative with the inauguration of the Cap Djinet desalination plant in Boumerdès and another facility in Béjaïa, thereby finalizing the entire project from the far west to the far east of the country while traversing its center.
He noted, “These major projects will remain in history,” adding, “Without exaggeration, such programs are rarely found in other countries, both in terms of financial resources and scope. I take great pride in the cohesion and collaboration among the staff and workers who operated under challenging conditions yet maintained perfect coordination.”
The President also conveyed his ambition for the country to undertake even more substantial development projects.
Among those attending the inauguration ceremony of this strategic project were General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army; Mohamed Arkab, Minister of State and Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies; Brahim Merad, Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Regional Planning; and Taha Derbal, Minister of Water Resources, along with leaders of the national companies responsible for the construction and local and military authorities from El Tarf province.
Constructed by Algerian experts using advanced technology, this plant has a production capacity of 300,000 cubic meters per day—equivalent to 300 million liters per day—supplying potable water to residents of the provinces of El Tarf, Annaba, Skikda, and Guelma.
