President Abdelmadjid Tebboune addressed the Continental Conference on Education, Youth, and Employability in Nouakchott, emphasizing Algeria’s dedication to advancing education across Africa.

Tebboune highlighted the critical challenges faced by the continent, including limited access to education and inadequate resources for teacher training. He underscored Algeria’s strides in education, showcasing free and compulsory education guaranteed by the Constitution, with nearly 12 million students currently enrolled and a remarkable increase in schooling rates from 43.42% in 1966 to 99.89% in 2024.

Tebboune also pointed out the country’s focus on modernizing education through digital technology and specialized institutes for mathematics, artificial intelligence, and nanotechnology.

The president reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering support for African solidarity by hosting 5,998 African students in Algerian universities and granting 2,500 annual scholarships.

Tebboune proudly mentioned Algeria’s longstanding contribution, having educated 65,000 African students since independence, and its role in building schools and hosting the African Union Institute of Water, Energy, and Climate Change. These efforts reflect Algeria’s commitment to fostering collective progress and bridging cultural and educational gaps across the continent.

Tebboune concluded by reiterating Algeria’s vision for a united and prosperous Africa, aligned with the African Union’s Agenda 2063. He expressed optimism that the conference’s outcomes would pave the way for quality education and brighter futures for African children, emphasizing the necessity of continental cooperation to realize common aspirations.
