Tasked by Algerian President, Sayoud Conducts a Working Visit to Italy (Statement)

Tasked by the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, is conducting a working visit to Italy, accompanied by the Director General of National Security (DGSN), Ali Badaoui, and a large delegation, according to a statement issued Thursday by the ministry.

This visit, undertaken by Sayoud at the invitation of the Italian Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, “falls within the framework of strengthening the Algerian-Italian partnership and developing mechanisms for coordination and cooperation in security and technical fields of common interest,” the same source added.

During a working session bringing together Sayoud and his Italian counterpart, both sides examined “ways to strengthen cooperation between Algeria and Italy, particularly in areas related to security and coordination between the competent authorities in the two countries.”

The talks focused on “several areas of common interest, including ways to benefit from the Italian experience in combating cybercrime, strengthening coordination to address the phenomenon of irregular migration, intensifying police cooperation, and exchanging expertise between the security institutions of the two countries,” the statement added.

The discussions also addressed “ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of Civil Protection, particularly through the organization of training cycles and the exchange of expertise in forest fire prevention and firefighting, with a view to contributing to the development of response and intervention capacities to various risks,” the statement concluded.
