Targets Anti-Normalization Activists

Human rights organizations in Morocco have strongly condemned the verdict issued on Thursday against 13 anti-normalization activists, labeling it “political and unjust.” They argue that the ruling seeks to criminalize support for the Palestinian cause and resistance.

The Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Anti-Normalization denounced the sentences, asserting in a statement that they aim to stifle boycott movements and silence opposition to normalization with the Zionist entity. The Front pledged to continue its efforts against normalization despite these rulings and expressed full solidarity with the convicted activists.

Similarly, the Moroccan Observatory Against Normalization criticized the trial, accusing authorities of targeting anti-normalization voices while neglecting accountability for those promoting normalization.

The trial, which lasted nine sessions, centered on peaceful protests in November 2023 outside a foreign-owned store in Sla, accused of supporting the Zionist occupation’s war in Gaza. The court sentenced the activists to six months of suspended imprisonment and a fine of 2000 dirhams.
