Syria: Explosion in a Mosque in Homs Kills at Least Eight

An explosion inside a mosque in the central Syrian city of Homs on Friday killed at least eight people, authorities reported, with dozens more wounded in the blast.
Syrian state media reported that the blast occurred at the Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque in the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood, during Friday prayers. Preliminary figures from the Syrian Health Ministry said at least eight people were killed and 18 wounded in the incident.
SANA, the state news agency, said security forces cordoned off the site and launched an investigation. Initial findings indicate that explosive devices may have been planted inside the mosque, according to a security source cited by the agency.
Authorities have not yet determined who was responsible for the explosion, and no immediate claim of responsibility has been reported.
