Syria Enters Electoral Silence Ahead of Parliamentary Elections

Syria entered the electoral silence phase on Saturday, on the eve of parliamentary elections scheduled for tomorrow.

Spokesman of Syria’s Higher Committee for Elections, Nawar Najmeh, said members of the electoral colleges will begin arriving to the polling stations and present their identification documents to receive their electoral cards at 9:00 a.m, according to SANA news agency.

“Voting for the Parliament initially ends at 12 midday, If not all members of the electoral colleges cast their votes, voting can be extended to 4:00 PM at most,” Najemeh said.

Najmeh added that the official results will be announced during an official press conference to be held by the High Elections Commission for the People’s Assembly next Monday or Tuesday.
