Sweden vs Algeria Friendly : Crucial Test Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

ALGIERS – The Algerian national football team will face Sweden in a friendly match on Tuesday at the Strawberry Arena in Solna, near Stockholm. This game will serve as a crucial test for the “Greens” as they prepare for upcoming competitive fixtures.

Following their 2-0 win against Rwanda last week in Constantine, Algeria now faces a tougher opponent in Sweden, who recently defeated Hungary 2-0. This marks Algeria’s first friendly against a European side under coach Vladimir Petkovic, who took charge in February 2024. Petkovic emphasized the importance of this match for evaluating the team’s adaptability and aims for a victory.

Algeria will miss striker Mohamed Amine Amoura due to injury, while defender Mohamed Amine Tougaï and winger Youcef Belaïli are released for club duties with ES Tunis. Rayan Aït-Nouri, recently signed by Manchester City, is expected to play.

Sweden, ranked 28th by FIFA, will miss key forwards due to injury but remains a strong side as they gear up for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The two teams have met five times before, with Sweden winning the last encounter in 2022.
