Survey : Majority of Americans Oppose Trump’s Plan to Take Over Gaza

A recent survey found that 64% of Americans oppose President Donald Trump’s proposal for the U.S. to “take over” and “own” the Gaza Strip, transforming it into what he called the “Riviera of the Middle East.” The poll, conducted by progressive think tank Data for Progress, revealed that 47% of respondents “strongly” opposed the plan, while 17% “somewhat” opposed it.
Opposition was strongest among Democratic voters, with 85% rejecting the proposal. Among Republicans, 43% opposed the plan, while 46% supported it. The survey, which included 1,200 participants, also highlighted that the plan would involve “forcibly resettling” around 1.8 million Palestinians currently living in Gaza to neighboring countries. Data for Progress stated that a “strong majority of voters” are against U.S. control over Gaza and the displacement of its Palestinian population.
Trump’s proposal has been widely rejected by Palestinians and the broader Arab and Muslim world. It comes amid a fragile ceasefire in Gaza following the Zionist entity’s 15-month military campaign, which has killed over 48,200 people. Nearly 2 million of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents have been forcibly displaced.
