Support for Youth: The Algerian Experience Presented in Armenia

Khaoula Talbi, a member of the National People’s Assembly (APN), presented Algeria’s approach to supporting youth and developing policies aimed at their inclusion in decision-making during her address on Friday in Yerevan, Armenia, as reported by the lower house of Parliament.
At the 10th World Conference of Young Parliamentarians, Ms. Talbi emphasized that “support for youth in Algeria has manifested in various ways, including the establishment of the Higher Council for Youth (CSJ), the creation of policies that enshrine their rights and participation in decision-making, as well as the enactment of laws that bolster youth initiatives,” according to the same source.
Furthermore, she highlighted the representation of youth within the assembly, noting, “There are 100 young deputies among the 407 members of the APN, along with the establishment of a parliamentary network dedicated to youth.”
In her concluding remarks, Ms. Talbi reminded attendees that “the world is currently facing critical challenges due to crises and conflicts, particularly impacting children, youth, and women.” She advocated for “addressing the struggles of youth amid these crises and conflicts,” underscoring the important role of parliamentarians in “defending the rights of these young individuals, especially in Palestine and Western Sahara.”
