Sudanese Army Retakes Presidential Palace in Khartoum from RSF

The Sudanese army announced on Friday that it had recaptured the presidential palace in central Khartoum from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

“Our forces have completely destroyed the enemy’s personnel and equipment and seized large quantities of weapons and supplies,” said army spokesperson Nabil Abdallah in a statement broadcast on state television.

The army will continue to “advance on all fronts until victory is achieved and every inch of our country is cleansed of militias,” he added, referring to the RSF.

Videos shared by multiple media outlets show soldiers inside the presidential palace.

The conflict in Sudan has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths, displaced over 12 million people, and triggered the world’s largest food and displacement crisis.

According to the United Nations, at least 3.5 million people in Greater Khartoum have been forced to flee their homes due to violence, while at least 100,000 people are facing famine.
