Sudan:1,300 Malnutrition Cases Recorded in Dilling After Two-Year Siege

The Sudan Doctors Network announced on Wednesday that 1,300 malnutrition cases were recorded in the city of Dilling, in the South of Kordofan state, south of the country.

The Sudanese army reported on Monday that its forces had successfully entered Dilling, ending a two-year siege imposed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

In a statement, The Sudan Doctors Network appealed the international and regional organizations, UN agencies, and all humanitarian bodies to urgently intervene and establish an immediate humanitarian air bridge to supply the city of Dilling, which has recently emerged from a siege that lasted for more than two years, leaving behind a dire humanitarian and health crisis.

The network said that the city is suffering from a severe shortage of medical staff, a critical lack of food and medical supplies, in addition to a worrying deterioration in the overall health situation, noting that this led to a significant rise in malnutrition cases, particularly among children, pregnant women, and the elderly.

It emphasized that it recorded “more than 1,300 cases of malnutrition in various categories, the majority of whom are children,” warning of serious health repercussions that may lead to permanent complications or loss of life if immediate intervention is not undertaken.
