Sudan: RSF Attack in Al-Jazira State Claims Over 120 Lives

An attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Al-Jazira State, central Sudan, resulted in the deaths of more than 120 individuals and left over 200 injured, according to an updated toll released on Monday by the Minister of Health.

Health Minister Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim stated, “The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) perpetrated a massacre against the citizens of al-Sariha in Al-Jazira State, resulting in 124 fatalities and over 200 injuries.”

He further noted that his ministry is “working urgently to provide medicine and care for the injured and sick in the besieged areas.”

Since April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This ongoing violence has displaced more than 11 million people, with 2.9 million seeking refuge in neighboring countries, leading to a severe humanitarian crisis where nearly 25 million individuals are in need of assistance, as reported by the United Nations.
