Sudan Reports Over 400 Cholera Cases Amid Water Shortages

Health authorities in Sudan announced on Thursday that more than 400 cases of cholera have been recorded in the southern city of Kosti. The outbreak is attributed to severe water shortages caused by ongoing power outages.
The Sudanese government declared a cholera epidemic last year, with 24,609 cases and 699 deaths reported in October. To combat the latest outbreak, the Ministry of Health has deployed 100 medical personnel and supplied over 6,000 intravenous solutions to affected areas.
Sudan’s healthcare system remains severely compromised due to the ongoing conflict, with 80% of medical facilities in conflict-affected areas forced to shut down.
