Sudan Reports 1,307 New Cholera Cases in One Week

The Sudanese Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that a total of 1,307 new cholera cases, including 18 fatalities, were reported in Sudan last week.
“Between July 12 and July 18, we recorded 1,307 cholera cases and 18 deaths across 35 localities in twelve states,” the ministry stated in a press release.
The Tawila locality in North Darfur State reported the highest number of infections, with 519 cases, while the Bileil locality in South Darfur State recorded the most fatalities.
Since July 2024, the cumulative number of cholera cases has reached 91,034, resulting in 2,302 deaths across 116 localities in 17 states, the ministry added.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has recently highlighted the worsening humanitarian crisis in Sudan, driven by a deadly cholera outbreak, flooding, and the mass return of refugees to remote areas of the country.
Currently, Sudan is grappling with a seasonal outbreak of various diseases associated with the rainy season, particularly malaria, cholera, and dengue fever.
