Sudan: Curfew Imposed in Blue Nile State During Ramadan

KHARTOUM, February 19, 2025 – Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, the governor of Blue Nile State in southern Sudan, announced on Tuesday that a curfew will be implemented throughout the month of Ramadan due to recent attacks that have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of civilians in a neighboring state.
According to the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA), the decree states, “A curfew will be enforced during the holy month of Ramadan from 10 PM to 5 AM.”
Earlier reports from the Sudanese government indicated that 433 civilians lost their lives as a result of assaults carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against villages in White Nile State between February 15 and 17.
Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army and the RSF have been engaged in a conflict that has claimed over 20,000 lives and displaced more than 14 million people, according to estimates from the United Nations and local authorities.
