Sudan Army Announces Recapture of 3 Areas, Strategic Camp from RSF in Omdurman

The Sudanese army announced on Tuesday that it has made significant advances in western Omdurman, regaining control of three strategic areas and a camp previously held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In a statement reported by various media outlets, the army asserted that it continues to achieve military successes in the region, declaring, “Our forces have today crushed and destroyed the RSF militia.” Specifically, the areas of Al-Safwa, Al-Hilla Al-Jadida, the village of Al-Safirah, and the Konan camp are now under its control.
The army further indicated that the final remnants of the RSF are currently being eradicated.
Additionally, the statement noted that several RSF combat vehicles have been destroyed, numerous personnel have been killed, and troops are actively pursuing those who remain at large.
Since the conflict began on April 15, 2023, fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF has resulted in over 20,000 deaths and displaced 15 million people, according to estimates from the United Nations and local authorities.
