Sudan: 45 Dead and 28 Injured in Attacks by RSF (Army)

The Sudanese army reported on Friday that at least 45 civilians were killed and 28 others injured due to artillery fire from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which targeted residential neighborhoods and displaced persons camps in western Sudan.
“In the city of El Fasher, several neighborhoods and camps suffered a significant massacre on Thursday as a result of deliberate gunfire from the RSF. This attack claimed the lives of 45 citizens, including women and children, while injuring 28 others who have since been transferred to health centers,” stated the command of the Sudanese Army’s 6th Infantry Division in a press release.
The report indicates that the attacks specifically focused on residential areas in southern El Fasher, as well as the Zamzam displaced persons camp to the south and the Abu Shouk camp to the north.
Since May 10, violent clashes between the Sudanese army and the RSF have persisted in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur province in western Sudan. The country has been engulfed in a devastating conflict between these two factions since mid-April 2023, leading to over 27,000 deaths and approximately 14 million displaced individuals, both internally and externally, according to estimates from international organizations.
