Sri Lanka: Presidential Coalition Leads in Legislative Elections, Partial Results Show

The coalition led by the Sri Lankan president is poised for a decisive victory in the legislative elections, according to partial results released on Friday. The National People’s Power (NPP), headed by Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who was elected in September, is currently leading with 63% of the votes, based on preliminary counts from the electoral commission that represent more than half of the total ballots cast.
