Sonelgaz Experts in Mozambique to Share Algeria’s Energy Expertise

A delegation of experts from Algeria’s national energy group Sonelgaz, led by the head of its engineering branch, is on a working visit to Mozambique to share Algerian expertise in the electricity sector, the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energy said Wednesday.

The visit aligns with President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives to strengthen Algeria’s presence in regional energy markets and advance South-South partnership.

The delegation aims to transfer Algerian expertise in electricity production and energy engineering. As part of the visit, it held a technical meeting with Mozambican energy sector officials to discuss avenues for cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the technical and regulatory frameworks governing the power sector.

The programme also included an inspection of the port of Maputo to assess logistical aspects related to technical operations, as well as a field visit to a power station commissioned in 2018, providing an opportunity to exchange technical insights and review field experience in the operation of energy infrastructure.

The visit reflects Sonelgaz’s pivotal role in implementing Algeria’s national energy policy, expanding into foreign markets and consolidating the country’s standing as a reliable African energy partner, contributing to energy security and sustainable development across the continent.
