Sonatrach Explores New Partnership Opportunities with Italian “Enel Global Trading”
ALGIERS, February 11, 2025 – Rachid Hachichi, CEO of Sonatrach, the Algerian oil company met with a delegation from the Italian energy group “Enel Global Trading,” led by Director Claudio Machetti, on Tuesday in Algiers. The two parties discussed avenues for identifying new partnership opportunities, as stated in a company release.
During the meeting, they focused on “enhancing the historic commercial relationship between the two companies and exploring new collaborative opportunities within the hydrocarbon value chain,” according to the statement.
Machetti praised the strong ties between Algeria and Italy in general, and specifically highlighted the robust business relationship between the two companies, emphasizing their long-term contracts for the sale and purchase of natural gas intended for the Italian and Spanish markets.
In response, Hachichi reaffirmed Sonatrach’s role as the primary supplier of natural gas to Europe and the Mediterranean region, noting that its supply also extends to Central European countries, further solidifying its position as a reliable gas provider, according to the release.
Enel, a partner of Sonatrach since 1991, specializes in marketing energy products in global markets, the statement concluded.
