
ALGIERS – Sonatrach Group CEO Rachid Hachichi met his Baker Hughes counterpart Lorenzo Simonelli in Florence, Italy, on Monday to review the various technical aspects of the Hassi R’Mel field Boosting project, according to a press release from the state-owned group.
The meeting, which took place at Baker Hughes’ headquarters, follows the official launch on December 1 of the second phase of work on the Hassi R’Mel field Boosting Phase 3 facilities (Boosting III), according to the press release.
Hachichi was accompanied at the meeting by the Vice President in charge of Exploration and Production, Farid Djettou, the Central Engineering Manager, Mahdi Sellami, the Production Division Manager, Ammar Nouacer, and the Hassi R’Mel deposit Regional Manager, Youcef Loucif.
Discussions focused on advancing the previously set schedule for this vital project to boost Sonatrach’s gas production capacity.
Following the meeting, a site visit was organized to the Baker Hughes workshops and its various units, including the R&D laboratory, where the delegation learned about the latest technologies and innovations adopted by the company.
The Sonatrach delegation also visited the manufacturing unit located in the town of Massa, to observe the production processes for turbine compressors manufactured by the Baker Hughes subsidiary “Nuovo Pignone”. This equipment is key to the operation of the Boosting facilities at the Hassi R’Mel field.
The visit allowed both parties to reaffirm their commitment to meeting the established schedule, while ensuring the highest standards of quality and professionalism, according to the same source.
