Somalia : The death toll from the attack on Lido beach in Mogadishu reached 32 civilians

The President of the African Union Commission (AUC), Moussa Faki Mahamat, expressed on Saturday his “dismay” and “condemnation” following the terrorist attack in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, which claimed the lives of 32 civilians.

“I’m dismayed to hear of the ignominious terrorist attack that targeted civilians on the Lido beach in Mogadishu, and I condemn it most strenuously,” Mr. Faki wrote on X platform.

“My deepest condolences to the loved ones of those who lost their lives in this merciless attack, and my continued solidarity with the people and the federal government of Somalia in their fight against the scourge of terrorism,” he added.

The death toll from the attack on Lido beach in Mogadishu reached 32, along with several injuries, Somali police announced on Saturday.

Police and witnesses say suicide bomber blew himself up Friday evening on Lido beach, which is frequently visited by businessmen and civil servants. The attackers then opened indescriminate fire on people, according to the same source.

The terrorist group have previously committed numerous attacks in Mogadishu and other regions. In addition to several countries in the Horn of Africa.
