Somalia: 15 Terrorists Eliminate in Central Region

In a security operation conducted near the Gayacad junction in Mabaax, located in the Hiiraan region of central Somalia, fifteen members of the “Shebab” terrorist group were eliminated, and five others sustained critical injuries, as reported by the Somali news agency Sonna on Tuesday.

The operation, orchestrated by Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), was executed in three successive waves overnight against a group of Al-Shabaab militants mobilizing from Adan Yabal and Ceel Cali Ahmed in the Middle Shabelle region.

According to the same source, the terrorists were attempting to reinforce fellow militants trapped in certain areas of Hiiraan. Despite their efforts to conceal themselves in remote bushlands, the intelligence-led operation effectively neutralized the threat. Somali security forces confirmed that all three phases of the operation met their objectives, and efforts to track down the remaining terrorists who fled during the raids are ongoing.

NISA reiterated its commitment to dismantling Shebab operational networks and expressed gratitude for the continuous support from international allies in strengthening national counter-terrorism initiatives.
