Seven Killed in Shootings in South Africa

Seven individuals were killed in two separate shootings in South Africa on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the South African police, who suggest that these incidents may be linked to potential conflicts within the taxi industry.

Armed men shot and killed four people on Thursday at a taxi rank in central Johannesburg, reported Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, a police spokesperson. The victims included a driver, a queue marshal, and two street vendors.

“The shooting is believed to be connected to violence within the taxi industry,” the spokesperson noted.

On Wednesday, a similar incident in the suburbs of Johannesburg resulted in three fatalities, all of whom were drivers.
