Senegal’s President Vows to End French Military Presence

Senegalese President Bassiro Dioumaï Faye confirmed in press statements that his country intends to end the presence of French troops on its territory.

Faye emphasized to French media that this decision reflects respect for national sovereignty, noting that Senegal is working on reshaping its military doctrine in collaboration with major countries, without allowing foreign bases. He also pointed out that there are currently around 350 French soldiers in Senegal, stating that their continued presence is unjustifiable in an independent Country
