Senegal Declares Monday Paid Public Holiday on AFCON2025 Triumph

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has officially declared Monday a paid public holiday across the country in celebration of Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations victory.

The announcement was made by Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Senegalese Radio and Television (RTS), in front of the gates of the Presidential Palace, where he addressed a jubilant crowd celebrating the triumph of the Lions of Teranga.

“This Monday will be considered a paid public holiday. Senegalese people will celebrate. Then we must welcome the Lions properly and congratulate them,” he said.

Senegal’s national team secured a resounding victory in AFCON 2025, despite biased officiating and behind-the-scenes scheming that marked the continental tournament throughout.
