Security Council “Fully” Supports UN Secretary-General

The UN Security Council expressed its “full” support for Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday evening. This statement came in response to a declaration from the Zionist entity the previous day, which branded him “persona non grata” for not immediately condemning Iran’s reaction to Zionist aggression against Lebanon on Tuesday.

While refraining from directly naming “Israel”, the five permanent members of the Council, alongside the ten non-permanent members, underscored the importance of maintaining a productive working relationship with the Secretary-General. They urged all UN member states to avoid actions that could undermine his efforts and those of his staff.

They cautioned that “any decision not to engage with the U.N. Secretary-General or the United Nations is counterproductive, especially in the context of escalating tensions in the Middle East,” according to a written statement issued by the 15-member countries, including the United States, China, Russia, the United Kingdom, and France, all under Switzerland’s presidency for October.

European Union Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell also urged the rejection of attacks against Guterres.
