Security Council: A3+ Group Advocates for Future Mirroring Syrian People’s Aspirations

The A3+ group reaffirmed on Wednesday in New York its commitment to supporting the unity and stability of Syria, calling for an end to Zionist military operations and the withdrawal of the entity from all Syrian territory.

In a statement delivered on behalf of the A3+ group during a UN Security Council session on Syria, Algeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amar Bendjama, emphasized “the Group’s commitment to supporting the unity and stability of Syria, calling on all stakeholders to act responsibly by respecting international law and by contributing to the building of a future reflecting the aspirations of the Syrian people.”

Bendjama added that “progress in Syria must ultimately be based on an inclusive, Syrian-led political process in line with the core principles of Resolution 2254.” Reviewing a series of observations, Bendjama welcomed the adoption of Security Council Resolution 2799, which, he said, sends an important political message. He emphasized that the Group is confident this step “will strengthen the role of Syrian institutions and contribute to bringing about the conditions for greater stability.”

On security matters, the Group expressed deep concern over reports of increased “Daesh” activity in certain Syrian regions, particularly those with security vulnerabilities, warning that “these developments are a reminder that terrorism remains a serious threat to the country and the entire region.”

The A3+ group expressed concern over Wednesday morning’s visit by the so-called “Prime Minister” of the Zionist Entity and his “Defense Minister” to southern Syria, conducted without prior notice or coordination with Syrian authorities, calling for an “immediate end” to this violation and the withdrawal of the Zionist entity from all occupied Syrian territories, including the Golan.
