Sahrawi Group Calls for Urgent International Action to Protect Free Voices from Moroccan Occupation

The Sahrawi human rights group “CODESA” has called for immediate international action to safeguard free voices and uphold human rights in Western Sahara and Morocco. The appeal follows a “smear campaign” against Aziz Ghali, president of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights, who supports the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.

CODESA expressed concern over this “systematic incitement,” which violates the right to free speech and exposes the false claims of the Moroccan regime regarding human rights. The organization stressed that Ghali’s position aligns with international law, citing key UN resolutions and the ongoing decolonization process in Western Sahara since 1963.

CODESA also expressed solidarity with Ghali and other Moroccan human rights defenders, rejecting attempts to silence them. The group called for the protection of Sahrawi civilians in the occupied territories, the restoration of human rights, and the release of all political prisoners in Western Sahara and Morocco.
