Russia’s Naval Nuclear Forces Modernized and Fully Prepared, Commander-in-Chief

At the 14th International Forum “Arctic: Today and the Future,” Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Alexander Moiseev underscored the modernization and high readiness of Russia’s maritime nuclear forces, calling them a vital guarantor of national security. Moiseev emphasized that these forces play a crucial role in global stability and warned against crossing critical boundaries in the Arctic, a region increasingly marked by geopolitical tensions.
Moiseev pointed to NATO’s heightened military activities in the Arctic, with the U.S. and its allies conducting operations in extreme climatic conditions, expanding naval force deployments, and intensifying aerial reconnaissance. He attributed these maneuvers to the Arctic’s growing strategic importance, driven by competition over resources and control of critical sea and air routes. The military potential of NATO forces in the region, particularly the U.S., has surged due to enhanced infrastructure and troop deployments.
The commander highlighted the Arctic as a flashpoint for global rivalry, exacerbated by the suspension of international cooperation with Russia, increased Western military presence, and obstacles to Russia’s economic initiatives. He called for vigilance in monitoring security threats, asserting that the Arctic’s strategic nuclear forces remain modernized and fully operational to ensure Russia’s security and deter aggression.
