He acknowledged that some speculate changes in the situation could be linked to Donald Trump’s presidency but emphasized that Russia does not harbor any illusions regarding such developments.
Lavrov reiterated Russia’s openness to negotiations concerning the Ukraine issue but stressed the need for serious and concrete proposals. He clarified that the peace proposals put forth by President Putin should not be viewed as preconditions for dialogue.
