Russia’s FSB Foils Ukrainian Military Intelligence Plot to Pay Russian Soldiers to Abandon Positions

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Wednesday that it had thwarted a plan by Ukrainian military intelligence to pay Russian soldiers $1 million to abandon their positions in Gorlovka, located in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

The FSB reported that Ukrainian military intelligence offered the bribe to Russian servicemen, and a portion of the payment, $100,000, was received as an advance.

The operation was identified by Russian military counterintelligence, which then took action, uncovering areas where Ukrainian armed forces were concentrated. Russian forces responded with missile and artillery strikes, resulting in significant losses for Kiev.

The funds involved were reportedly intended for the purchase of materials to support Russian military units participating in the ongoing special military operation.
