Russian Intelligence Warns of Potential Conflict with Moldovan President’s Aggressive Stance

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has raised concerns over the actions of Moldovan President Maia Sandu, stating that no one can guarantee she won’t instigate conflict in the region.
In a series of statements, the SVR highlighted Sandu’s refusal to engage in discussions with Ukraine regarding Moldova’s energy supply after the expiration of the Russian-Ukrainian gas transit agreement.
Sandu has threatened that if Russia fails to deliver gas to Moldova, Chisinau would retaliate against Transnistria, a breakaway region supported by Russia.
Moldova has also initiated criminal proceedings against Transnistrian leaders for separatism and demanded preparations for a forceful takeover of a regional power plant located in the region.
Despite these tensions, the European Union has not yet expressed readiness for a potential new crisis, although it is concerned about the rising conflict in Russia’s sphere of influence.
