Russian Envoy Holds Talks in Washington to Restore US-Russia Dialogue

Senior Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev announced on Thursday that he is holding talks in Washington with representatives of US President Donald Trump’s administration. The discussions, initiated at the request of Russian President Vladimir Putin, aim to restore dialogue between the two countries, which Dmitriev claims was “completely destroyed” under the Biden administration.

Dmitriev emphasized the importance of US-Russia dialogue for global stability and pointed out the opposition from various forces trying to hinder rapprochement between the nations. He argued that these forces are deliberately misrepresenting Russia’s position and disrupting efforts toward constructive dialogue.

While acknowledging the challenges of rebuilding dialogue, Dmitriev highlighted that each meeting and frank conversation brings the nations closer to mutual understanding, opening new avenues for cooperation, particularly in the investment and economic sectors.
