Russia Welcomes US-Iran Ceasefire, Hopes for Direct Talks and Expanded Role in Ukraine Negotiations

The Kremlin has welcomed the recent decision by the United States and Iran to avoid further military escalation, signaling Moscow’s approval of the temporary halt in hostilities. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Russia views the development positively and hopes that direct contacts between the two nations will take place soon.
Peskov also highlighted that Moscow expects US negotiators to gain greater opportunities to participate in three-party discussions on Ukraine in the near future. This suggests Russia’s continued interest in involving Washington in multilateral talks while maintaining its broader strategic objectives in the region.
The statements reflect Russia’s approach of promoting diplomatic engagement while carefully monitoring the evolving dynamics between Iran, the US, and other international actors, particularly regarding conflicts where Moscow has significant geopolitical stakes.
