Russia, Syria to Deepen Cooperation on Energy, Infrastructure, and Humanitarian Aid

Russia and Syria are set to strengthen bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and humanitarian assistance, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced following a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian Interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa in Moscow.
Novak confirmed that the two nations will soon hold an intergovernmental commission meeting to further define joint projects and strategic priorities. Moscow reiterated its readiness to assist in rebuilding Syria’s war-torn infrastructure and to resume operations in its vital oil fields, which have been severely damaged by years of conflict.
Meanwhile, Damascus expressed interest in securing Russian wheat and medicines to bolster its recovery efforts and address pressing humanitarian needs, underscoring the renewed momentum in Russian-Syrian relations following al-Sharaa’s first official visit to Moscow since taking office in December 2024.
