Russia Slams Trump’s Gaza Plan, Calling It a Manifestation of “Cancel Culture”

Russia on Wednesday condemned US President Donald Trump’s proposal to take over the Gaza Strip, calling it a reflection of the Western “cancel culture.” Speaking at a roundtable meeting in Moscow on Ukraine with ambassadors, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that the so-called “culture of cancellation” has become especially apparent in the context of the Middle East situation.

Lavrov pointed to the decisions made by the UN Security Council, which were universally recognized just a month and a half ago as a necessary foundation for the creation of a Palestinian state, arguing that these decisions have now been effectively nullified. He suggested that such actions reflect a broader trend of disregarding international agreements, particularly when they contradict Western interests.

Trump’s comments outlined plans for the US to “take over” Gaza after relocating Palestinians to other areas. Trump proposed that the US-led redevelopment plan could transform Gaza into “the Riviera of the Middle East,” sparking backlash from various international actors.
