Russia : Gazprom to deliver 42.1 mcm of gas to Europe via Ukraine on Monday

MOSCOW – Russian gas producer Gazprom said it would send 42.1 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas to Europe via Ukraine on Monday, the same volume as on Sunday.

“Gazprom continues to supply Russian gas for transit through Ukrainian territory via the Sudzha gas pumping station [in the Kursk Region] in an amount approved by Ukraine. The volume is 42.1 mcm for August 25. A request for transit via the Sokhranovka gas pumping station was rejected,” Gazprom spokesman Sergey Kupriyanov told reporters.

The volume stood at 42.4 mcm on Saturday and slightly decreased on Sunday and Monday to 42.1 mcm.

On August 6, Russia’s borderline Kursk Region, where the Sudzha gas pumping station is located, was subjected to a large-scale Ukrainian incursion, leading to a sharp spike in natural gas and LNG prices.

Gazprom is a Russian-majority state-owned multinational energy corporation headquartered in Saint Petersburg. Before the conflict erupted, Russia agreed to sign a win-win, five-year deal to export gas to Europe through Ukraine’s pipeline system. Accordingly, Gazprom earns money from the gas, and Ukraine collects transit fees.
