Russia Confirms Major Increase in Weapons Production to Meet Domestic and Foreign Demand

MOSCOW — Russia has significantly ramped up the production of all types of weapons, Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov announced Wednesday, highlighting the country’s growing defense manufacturing capabilities amid continued military operations and international arms deals.
Speaking before the Russian parliament, Alikhanov said that the domestic defense industry has expanded its capacity to fully meet both internal military requirements and export commitments.
“Collectively, we have significantly increased production volumes across all types of weaponry. At meetings with the president regarding the state armament program project, the industry confirmed its readiness to fully implement all announced plans,” he stated.
According to 2025 data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Russia now ranks as the world’s third-largest arms exporter, behind the United States and France.
