Russia Condemns EU’s 15th Sanctions Package as Unlawful

Russia has criticized the European Union’s latest round of sanctions as unlawful, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova calling them “illegal” during a press briefing in Moscow.

The new package, which targets both Russian and foreign economic entities and public figures, is seen by Russia as harmful to its interests and a threat to global energy security and economic stability.

Zakharova stated that these measures would be analyzed for their impact on Russia’s economic interests, and promised retaliatory actions in response to what she called “illegitimate anti-Russian actions” by the EU.

The EU’s 15th sanctions package, adopted on Monday, aims to prevent Russia from circumventing existing sanctions by targeting its “shadow fleet” and follows the prolonged conflict in Ukraine, now surpassing 1,000 days.
