Russia Calls Trump-Iran Ceasefire a “Crushing Defeat” for Aggressive US Plans

Russia on Wednesday described the US approach toward Iran as a “one-track, aggressive, unprovoked attack” that suffered a “crushing defeat” following President Donald Trump’s announcement of a two-week ceasefire. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Sputnik Radio that claims of imminent “victory” and increased US offensives had failed, reinforcing Moscow’s position that a military solution is ineffective.
Zakharova emphasized that Russia has consistently called for an immediate halt to aggression against Iran and the start of a “real political and diplomatic settlement.” She reiterated that military action cannot resolve the crisis, highlighting the importance of negotiations over continued hostilities.
The ceasefire comes after heightened regional tensions following a joint US-Zionist offensive against Iran on February 28, which killed over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
