Rubio Says Washington Will Not Impose Ukraine Deal

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington is not seeking to impose a settlement on either side in the conflict in Ukraine, emphasizing that the United States aims to help bring the war to an end through dialogue.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Rubio stressed that the United States seeks to facilitate negotiations rather than pressure the parties into an agreement. He noted that Washington is interested in ending the conflict and believes it is uniquely positioned to help both sides engage in talks.
“The United States is interested to see the war end, and we want to do what we can to make it happen. We are the only nation on earth that apparently can get both sides to the table to talk. We are not seeking to impose a deal on anybody. We are not trying to force anyone to take a deal they do not want to take. We just want to help them, because we think it is a war that is incredibly damaging,” Rubio said.
His remarks come amid continued international diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict and reducing its humanitarian and economic consequences.
