Released Spanish National Expresses Gratitude to Algerian President

The released Spanish national, Navaro Canada Joaquim, expressed his heartfelt gratitude on Wednesday to Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and all Algerian authorities for ensuring his safety until his release.
During the handover process to his country’s ambassador to Algeria, Fernando Moran Calvo-Sotelo, which took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Joaquim acknowledged the unwavering commitment of the Algerian authorities to his safety, particularly praising President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
“I feel safe by your side. These have been difficult moments for me, but I am relieved now that I have been released,” he stated.
It is worth noting that the security services of the People’s National Army (ANP) facilitated the reception of the Spanish national on Tuesday, reporting that he is “in good health.” He had been on a tourist visit when he was abducted on January 14, 2025, in the border area between Algeria and Mali by an armed group of five individuals, according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).
The Spanish national was transferred from Tin Zaouatine Airport in the Sixth Military Region to Boufarik Military Base /1 RM/ aboard a special plane.
