#ReconnectGaza Campaign Calls for Urgent Action to Restore Gaza’s Telecommunications

The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media, in collaboration with the Palestinian Digital Rights Coalition and international organizations, has launched the #ReconnectGaza campaign to demand the rebuilding of Gaza’s telecommunications network and affirm the right to communication as a fundamental human right. The initiative responds to the deliberate destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure, which has isolated millions, disrupted emergency services, and devastated the economy.
The campaign was launched at the RightsCon international conference in Taiwan, featuring discussions on the impact of connectivity loss and strategies to restore telecommunications. Estimates indicate that 75% of Gaza’s telecommunications infrastructure has been damaged, with 50% completely destroyed. The campaign urges governments, international bodies, and tech companies to take immediate action, including deploying emergency connectivity solutions such as satellite internet and mobile hubs.
Beyond emergency measures, #ReconnectGaza advocates for long-term investments in modern telecommunications, including fiber optics and renewable energy-powered networks. A core demand is the establishment of an independent Palestinian ICT sector, free from Zionist control, to prevent future digital isolation. The campaign calls for global participation, stressing that connectivity is a basic human right and essential for Gaza’s recovery.
